WHIDDON MILL GROCERY, POND AND SPILLWAY
This photo is of the old and historic Whiddon Mill Grocery, the spillway and beyond a small glimpse of the large pond. At one time this was a hub for commerce in this area which included a grist mill and the areas only grocery. Up and down the road around Whiddon Mill were many houses, barns and even right across the road was a post office with an address of "HAT" Georgia. This property has been owned by the Ross family and today is owned by three daughters of Wilton Ross. The three grown daughters are all married with children and grandchildren whom continue to cherish the heritage of this quite magical place. Though the hogs, mules, cows and chickens are long gone, the farm is still being worked by neighbor farmers who still grow peanuts, cotton ans other crops. The girls take wonderful care of this quite historic place. It is one of the true gems of Tift County!
